Periodontal Therapy FAQ
In its earliest stage, known as gingivitis, gum disease is often reversible with professional cleaning and improved home care. However, more advanced stages (periodontitis) require professional management to stop the infection and prevent bone loss.
A standard cleaning focuses on the surface of the teeth above the gum line. A deep cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing) goes below the gum line to remove the deep-seated bacteria and tartar that cause gum disease.
Your comfort is our priority. We use local anesthesia to ensure the treatment area is completely numb. Most patients find the procedure to be very manageable and experience significant relief from gum soreness afterward.
